So, yesterday I went to one of my absolute favorite places! It’s the Green Valley Book Fair. This place…well…besides heaven, the best way to describe it…you know Barnes & Noble’s Bargain Bin? Well…this is 2 warehouses of bargain bins. All their books are brand new and marked down 70-90% off cover price. I always walk away with tons of stuff. Because I’m a book addicted and could max a credit card out in no time on books alone, I limit myself to a budget on book fair day. I take just the amount I plan to spend, and I limit myself to visiting the book fair once a year. Now…the GV book fair is only open certain times of year, for about 2 weeks 5 times a year.
So it’s become tradition that my mother and I go the weekend after Thanksgiving…usually on Black Friday. Way more fun than a mall! And no old ladies to knock out for good bargains. Well…this weekend they were
holding their Damaged Book Sale. A huge sale, with a thousand books (states the ad) for $1 each. WOW!! Hello! Dream come true! Well…little did I know, it gets better. So we head up Sunday, last day of the sale and I start wandering the pavilion of “damaged” books…well, honestly, most of them were just used, or just ones they hadn’t sold. Very few were actually damaged. So…I pick up book, after book, after book and soon I can’t carry anymore…now I should mention I’m only half way through the book sale, so I walk my way up to the cashier where my plan is to pay, put them in my car and then come back…then the wonderful angel sent from book heaven tells me, “Hey, we’re having a box sale, buy an empty box for $5 and you can have whatever you can fit in it.”…I very quickly handed over my $5 bucks and started piling in the books…even a few I wasn’t sure I’d like, but hey…didn’t cost anything extra so why not?
So…today I spent a grand total of $43 dollars and came home with 39 new books. I , personally, think it was a pretty good day of book hunting.
